Following DARA’s Board of Trustees meeting, the following changes to the Board are effective as of Friday December 14^th2012:

• DARA has appointed three new Board Members:  Silvia Hidalgo, Founder of DARA, who steps in as Vice Chair; Niels Dabelstein, Former head of evaluations at DANIDA; and Jemilah Mahmood, Former President of the Malaysian Medical Relief Society (MERCY Malaysia). Our warmest welcome to all of them.

• In addition, Diego Hidalgo Schnur steps down as Chairman of the Board and becomes “Chairman Emeritus”. He is succeeded by José María Figueres, Former President of Costa Rica.

• The organization also bids farewell to Board members Aldo Ajello, Former Special Representative of the European Union in the African Great Lakes Region; Emma Bonino, Vice President of the Italian Senate & Former European Commissioner for Consumer Policy, Fisheries and the European Community Humanitarian Office (ECHO); Beatriz Iraburu Elizondo, Award winning international journalist, Grupo Correo; and Juliet Pierce, Former Director of the Performance Assessment Resource Centre (DFID). We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to them for their support of DARA and efforts during the last years.
